Cafe Hours! July Edition 2024 🎆
Finding Comfort In A Daily Practice And Watching Our Confidence Rise As We Grow
Cheers to you Sweet Sippers! ☕️
This month we will be focusing on creating supportive practices to help in our creative endeavors. In particular our writing endeavors. (Other ideas include hugging, smiling at others or even taking naps)
You choose for yourself what will be your focus. The idea of having a practice is meant to help calm the mind, let anxiety take a back seat and help to hone our concentration skills. If you fall off, just gently come back without judgement.
Tips for starting a practice:
🎆Start small-choose something simple, not too many steps. Don’t over complicate it.
🎆Break it down. Look at it from a macro perspective.
🎆Mark down the number of days you want to go for. Start with 5-10 days. Celebrate making it through. Then, keep going if you want.
So, now choose what you would like to practice.
Here’s a few ideas…to help. Choose anything that feels good!
🪶Free Writing
🪶A Daily Gratitude Practice
🪶Writing Outside (if you’re in a warm climate)
🪶Writing All Your Wins Down At the End Of Each Day
🪶A Journal Prompt A Day
🪶Copy Quotes Onto Post-Its And Hang Them Up For Yourself And Your People To See
🪶Write Letters To Friends And Family And Mail Them Everyday
Music is a real motivator for me. (If you haven’t already noticed)
Here’s a playlist with fast music! 250 words/15 minutes GO!
There we have it! I gotta say it does feel good recommitting to following through with a practice. Even knowing I messed up one of the days, it gave me confidence. I know I can and will always be able to come back into some creative flow! Thanks for sticking with me as I’ve had to navigate through some rough water lately.
Now, come on over to the chat, our virtual little cafe, and get comfy! Let’s finish out the month strong!
✒️Grab your favorite beverage. Take a little moment for you, along with a few deep breaths.

✒️Tell us your publication, if you have one. Or other creative project.
✒️Respond and comment on other folk’s comments. Let us know if you need some accountability.

Hiya everyone! I’m Mika from musings by mika. I talk about my journey on Substack after leaving my safe and comfortable 9-5. I talk about “being brave enough to suck” and what life is really like a year after leaving my job. I also love community building!
I’m currently working on my June recap of Substack. 😊
