Sitting in the quiet, in the morning time, I allow. Listening to the early birds chirp. Going slow and intentionally having my way in the early day, allows me to feel more safe. Connecting to this Earth. Bringing in that feeling of safety, brings balance to the root chakra. Our chakra system is made up of specific energy centers running up and down the center of the body, from the base of the spine to the top of head and around the body.
For me, a favorite time to write is early in the morning just as the sun is coming up. Even if it’s only for a few minutes. A few lines layed down before the chaos begins. Something to anchor me daily. I notice when shy away, don’t want to use my voice, I tend to feel off, in the root.
My seven year old son came to me recently, on a lazy Saturday afternoon, telling me how scared he was feeling. He had managed to watch a video on a certain kid’s channel that was a bit to scary seeming for his taste. I told him to repeat after me…”I am safe. I am at peace.” We repeated it a few times over, along with some deep breaths. This stinkin’ video really rattled him. He kept indicating every so often how nervous he felt. So, we would go back to our affirmation…”I am safe…I am at peace.” We did this until bedtime. When we woke up in the morning, I could tell he was feeling better but still unnerved. As we went about our day, we continued the affirmation. That night going to bed, he told me he was feeling better and it didn’t make him feel quite as uneasy anymore.
To me, we all have that little seven year old, deep inside of us, yearning for comfort when things get stressful. It went straight to my heart, when my son told me, he was feeling better! Even a seven year old can reframe thoughts and feel more empowered when overwhelm creeps up. Our thoughts create our feelings. So, it seems to be valuable to create some words, string some words together to anchor the heart when things get difficult.
Come what may, I am bound to think that all things are ordered for the best. Though when the good is a furlong off and we, with our beetle eyes, can only see three inches. It takes some confidence in general principles to pull us through.

Throughout this year, in my paid community, we will be working our way through each energy center and exploring how best we may feel supported. We will move slowly and take our time, journeying together, at our own paces, until the end of the year. Spending time concentrating on certain areas more than others. Learning, laughing, releasing, clearing and going as deep as personally necessary. I think I’ve been inspired by
, of Footnotes & Tangents. He is currently the host of a slow-read community, one of which I’m reading along with, Wolf Hall, aka Wolf Crawl. Cute right? So, I guess that ‘slow’ inspired this ‘chakra kinda slow.’ Why not just spread things out? There’s no rush. Join us for this ‘Chakra Crawl.’ Ha Ha! Let’s grow in 2024!Consider upgrading to follow along with us, over the course of this year, as we journey through the chakras. We’ll go slow and explore each center, learning and growing along the way! Hope you’ll join us!
