Hello There! I’m Mary Beth.
Welcome to my little corner of the net, welcome to Mantras and Coffee.
Let’s get cozy, pour yourself a cup of your favorite brew, and let’s chat!
I’m a mama, to three beautiful kids, wife to my best friend, poet, writer, book lover, yoga teacher-in-training and forever student of life. My work has been seen in several anthologies, a curated stationary collection, and has won a special award with The Wee Sparrow Poetry Press.
I love mantras and I’m a connoisseur of fine coffees. I’m just a normal mom that has had to work hard to find my own, personal, reticent solace. There are few things that compare to my morning quiet time paired with the most perfect, cup of hot coffee. I just love how, everyday, each one seems to have it’s own kind of personality. Ya know? Who’s with me there?
As my yoga teacher once explained in the simplest of terms, “mantras are thoughts.”
These thoughts can have immense impact on our everyday lives. I believe we all have the ability to allow our positive, feeling thoughts to become mantras. Especially during high-stress moments. Ancient mantra is, also, an extraordinary tool to learn about and explore.
The purpose with this space is to create a safe and soft landing for anyone that needs it. I also host The My Morning Pages Journal Club Community here, as a paid offering.
Think of Mantras and Coffee as a place to stop by when things seem overwhelming and chaotic. A place to take a moment for yourself, take a breath, pause, and remember what it’s like to be alive and perhaps act as a reminder that we all actually do have souls dwelling deep within all of us. We all need to catch our breaths and reset, from time to time. You’ll get that here. My hope is you feel better, calmer, more centered and more in rhythm with your real self after visiting here.
Mantras and Coffee began as a seed of an idea a few years ago. As I sat in my morning meditation…mind wandering… I knew I needed to share my findings, in the hopes of creating an easier path for others to get to that sweet muted place. That tender heart space I came to rely upon so often. And as I continue down my path of yoga teacher training, my hope is to solidify what I am learning, for a deeper, more connected understanding in community.
For me, guiding, helping and loving my family is my top priority. The last few years have been especially challenging in that we have had to traverse up the mountain, called childhood cancer. Our eldest son was diagnosed in August of 2022. It has been a very intensive, full-time job. I was tethered to my boy and ready for anything throughout the entire process of his active treatment.
Writing has become a close friend, and a healing way for me to release all the things, over these last few years. Mantras were key in helping me deal with the extreme emotional ups and downs. They helped to keep me steady during some of the roughest periods. The best gift in finding this friend, has been the healing part. The second best, has been being able to do it, from anywhere, while being the caretaker, my son (and his siblings) deserve and need daily. Bestowing a gift of intangible freedom that I can’t begin describe. I’m beyond grateful.
Even in all life’s glory and in the most tragic moments, we always learn something. Day after day, constantly being inundated with EVERYTHING, we all need a little help from our friends, sometimes.
